“Our expectation has always been that the EcoBoost V6 would perform exceptionally well in the Ford GT – both in terms of power as well as aerodynamic efficiency,” Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance said in a press conference. “We tested and developed this powertrain through the Daytona Prototype race car that ran in IMSA for two seasons, last season racing with Ford GT. We are extremely pleased with how it performs, both on the track and on the road.”
How fast can the 2017 Ford GT go?
The turbocharged, 3.5-liter, V-6 engine that powers the 2017 Ford GT is able to make an incredible 647 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque. About 90 percent of the engine torque is created from 3,500 rpm. As a domestic point of reference, the competing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has a V-8 engine that makes 640 horsepower. During testing the 2017 Ford GT hit a top speed of 217 miles per hour.
