“Customers are moving from other brands to Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks because they’re affordable and Built Ford Tough in America,” Kevin Koester, Ford medium-duty truck and Super Duty fleet marketing manager said in a press release. “Our segment-exclusive gasoline engine is appealing to fleet managers who recognize not every duty cycle requires the torque of a diesel engine, and who prefer the cost and maintenance advantages of gasoline power.”

What’s new with the Ford F-650/750

For the 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 commercial trucks, the automaker has added electronic stability control and traction control brakes on tractor versions. This new equipment is optional on F-750 diesel straight frame models. A new high-output 240-amp alternator can be added to the gasoline powered 6.8-liter, V-10 engine. This gives users of this engine better capability for running auxiliary equipment for tow trucks or for trucks with bigger-than-average electricity needs. A new soot trap for available diesel engines make them even cleaner and easier to check the oil.

Ford remains the only manufacturer of heavy duty trucks like the new F-650 and F-750 to make their own engines and transmission. This ensures the two systems properly work together to provide the best possible performance and reliability for their owners.
