The high-strength, military-grade aluminum alloy body helps the F-150 save up to 700 pounds over the previous generation.

Benefits of a Lighter Truck Body

The lighter aluminum body leads to multiple benefits for F-150 owners. A lighter truck body helps improve performance and fuel economy ratings. When equipped with Ford’s 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine, the F-150 is able to earn up to 20 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highways.

2018 will also see the introduction of a new 3.0-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V-6 engine. Ford is anticipating this new engine will earn fuel economy ratings of up to 30 miles per gallon on the highways. Models equipped with this engine will be available starting in the spring of 2018.
